The University Institute of Medical and Humanistic Sciences of Nayarit, founded in the city of Tepic in 2012, has as a substantive mission to train humanist, constructivist and competent professionals who contribute to the social and scientific development of Mexico in a sustainable way. The comprehensive training model based on the premises of Scientific Humanism trains socially responsible professionals, with a public and interdisciplinary vocation and oriented by the search for excellence in their scientific training at the frontier.

It was 2009 when a group of intellectuals and young doctors from Nayarit conceived the idea of creating a humanistic and scientific higher education institution capable of taking on the challenge of comprehensive training in health sciences. Three years of intensive work allow that on August 30, 2012, the University Institute of Medical and Humanistic Sciences of Nayarit formally begins its activities and of origin for the first time in the State, to training in Comprehensive General Medicine and deployment of an interdisciplinary model that will range from technical training to doctorate and specialization. A month before, on July 3, 2012, we obtained a favorable technical opinion from the Inter-Institutional Committee for Training and Training of Human Resources and Health Research (CIFRHS) in consideration of the quality and solidity of the educational model and its innovative proposal . Likewise, on May 24, the constitutive act of the Civil Association called "University Institute of Medical and Humanistic Sciences of Nayarit AC" is signed, which will be the legal and societal basis for a progressive organizational development in structure, leadership, communication and work of team.

Already fully complying with the substantive functions of the University, INUMEDH is projected towards 2030 as a benchmark institution with a high level of excellence and leadership, committed to Science, Humanism, Health and Social Welfare, relevant, accredited and certified in quality, academically consolidated, with modern facilities and recognized for a relevant social impact to improve people's health and quality of life.
